This announcement was welcomed with the thunderous round of applause. In the beginning of the event Mr. Chintan Bakshi, CEO of Startup Oasis gave an overview about the PitchCity event to be organized in Jaipur under Rajasthan StartUp Fest. A part of this event shall be organized at MNIT, Jaipur on 8th October 2015. Today’s event had Mr. Abhishek Soni, of Taxopedia- now, Tax2Win and Mr. Deepak Sharma, co-founder of NEOS; CEO of Scoo Talks sharing their experiences.
A CA by a profession, Abhishek’s company has earned a funding of about six crores on a working prototype; website and zero customers. His mantra is have so much faith (in your idea) that you can take a loan and have the guts to repay it. Launched by a team of Chartered Accountants, the vision behind Tax2win is to address the woes of millions of Indians or NRIs who have to struggle to find a good CA for their tax-related problems and then do endless rounds of their offices to find a suitable solution. Being asked about on pitching, he advices not to bombard the investors. Instead, talk about your idea, concepts, their profit and most importantly, be honest.
Deepak, the co-founder of NEOS; CEO of Scoo Talks spoke of the Don’ts while pitching. According to him, pitching is all about NOT boring slides, impractical hope and, an oblivion eye to competition. He advised that one should keep talking about your idea to more & more people. The more number of people; the lesser probability of listening to a “No”. According to Deepak, if even after speaking to a fifty odd people, the fire within you is still burning; go for it. And as he says and I quote, “We humans are very lazy people. Take advantage of it.”
Getting an insight into an investor’s mind, one of the startup promoters Mr. Sanjay Yadav, MD Harbinger Heights said that not just the idea that they invest in, ideas are always there but the team that matters the most. It’s important as an investor to see the revenue increase, not necessarily proportionally. The event ended at a high note with high tea and promises to meet every second Saturday of the month in MNIT, Jaipur for the event StartUp Saturday.
