NIDHI-Entrepreneur In Residence Programme

NIDHI- Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIR) is one of the programs introduced under NIDHI meant for potential innovative entrepreneurs. The NIDHI-EIR Programme would provide extensive support in the form of a subsistence grant to an aspiring or budding entrepreneur with considerable potential to work on a promising technology business idea.

A grant support of Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 30,000/- per month for a period of 12 months.
Mentoring support & experts connect for product formulation, commercialization, business conceptualization, and preparing market strategy.

The applications received under the program, are subject to due diligence in the screening process. Only shortlisted participants will be notified/ informed about the final presentation to the monitoring committee.

The screening will be subject to parameters other than eligibility, such as innovation, the potential for commercialization and venture creation, team capability and commitment etc.

The decision of the screening committee for approval and funding support will be final, firm and binding.

The final decision of the screening committee will be communicated only to the approved applicants via email.

The approved idea/innovation will have to agree to pre-incubation/ incubation with MIIC as per its incubation policy/terms.

Screening of applications will take 6-8 weeks, from the date of closure of online applications. Only selected candidates will be notified.

No communication from MIIC within the timeframe may be deemed as a non-selection of your application for the program.

MIIC will not provide any suggestion/explanation with regard to the application that are not selected.

Eligibility Criteria

The EIR applicant should be a citizen of India who is in possession of a government-approved proof of nationality such as a valid passport, voter’s id etc.

A first generation innovative entrepreneur, who has no prior source of income.

Support recipient should not treat this support as a stop gap arrangement to support them in their academic pursuits or transition between jobs.

Applicant should demonstrate his ability to build a scalable technology business startup

The support recipient should propose one technology business idea in a prescribed format.

Support recipient are expected to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations full time.

NIDHI-EIR cannot be concurrent with any other education program, remunerating assignment or fellowship

NIDHI-EIR support recipient cannot be the promoter or significant (>10%) share holder/beneficiary of another company at the time of applying for and after receiving the grant approval

The NIDHI-EIR should be registered for the pre-incubation or incubation program at MIIC for the entire duration of NIDHI-EIR support.

Entrepreneurs pursuing business ideas with no or marginal technology innovation or those with a very short journey (i.e. less than 6 months) to commercialization are discouraged to apply.
